LG announces Optimus Black

At the CES, LG just announced its latest phone in the Optumus series: the Optimus Black. The smartphone has some impressive specs. One of them is that LG claims that the Optimus Black is worlds thinnest smartphone.

The handset has a 4 inch screen with so called NOVA technology, which should make the display clear and efficient. The screen is aid to have a luminosity of 700 nits. A nit is a light-unit. A normal LCD screen has a luminosity-value of something about 350 nits. LG claims to save 50% energy compared to a normal LCD screen

If LG can make it true, it is an impressive achievement. More specs of the Black are a 1500 mAH batterij, a 2 megapixel camera at the front and WiFi Direct, a technique that enables the Optimus Black to communicatie with other WiFi devices directly, without the intervention of a router. It is unclear how many megapixels the camera at the backside of the phone has.
