Official version of Android 12 expected within "a few weeks"

And with it, the Google Pixel 6

Google has released beta 5 of Android 12. This is the last beta that Google will release. In the same blog post, Google mentions that we are only a few weeks away from the official launch of Android 12.

Beta 5 doesn't contain visual changes but mostly bug fixes. It is now time for app developers to make their apps compatible with Android 12. The most important feature of Android 12 is Material You. This interface builds on the Material Design style but is highly customisable.

The fact that Android 12 is nearing its final release also means that the launch of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will soon follow. Some things are already known about the phones, partly because Google already showed them to the public. It even gave some specifications including a 6.4 or 6.7 inch screen respectively. However, our interest goes mainly to the cameras. The company's own Tensor chip should add extra features, but it is still unclear which ones.

Beta 5 of Android 12 is available for Pixel phones including the Pixel 5 but also for a handful of phones from Asus, Oppo, OnePlus and Xiaomi.
