Nokia stops Symbian: name disappears, OS remains

Symbian is no longer. The troubled mobile operating system will continue under the name Nokia, Symbian Belle, the latest version, will be delivered as "Nokia Belle"

Symbian was, until recently, an open-source smartphone operating system, also used by other manufacturers such as Samsung and Sony Ericsson. When it became clear that no one except Nokia was interested in the outdated operating system, the Finns took the development of Nokia back in their own activities. Nokia understood that Symbian's market share would only go down. The OS could not pull Nokia out of its downward spiral.

Name and logo will disappear forever

Nokia signed a deal with Microsoft to make smartphones with Windows Phone. Symbian remained for mid-market models. With the Nokia Lumia 800, which was received with praise, we see the first fruit of the cooperation between the two companies. Support for Symbian is guaranteed until 2016 by Accenture. We expect that after this date, the curtain finally falls for Symbian.
