If the rumours are true, we are looking at the back of the upcoming Xiaomi 12. We don't see a complete device yet, so we still have to guess. Fortunately, the source provides an explanation and a possible launch date.
Xiaomi seems to want to apply a large camera sensor on the Xiaomi 12. We can see a relatively large hole at the top. Possibly a 200MP large sensor? Xiaomi would then be the first to put so many megapixels in a mobile phone. It was earlier rumoured that Xiaomi's first phone with a 200MP camera wouldn't come before the second half of 2022.
The camera system also consists of a macro camera and an ultra-wide-angle lens, as described by the caption. Altho the source doesn't say anything about a telephoto camera, we would be surprised if it was missing. The two remaining cut-outs would be for the flash and other sensors.
First with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
Earlier Xiaomi made it clear which processor the Xiaomi 12 will get. That's Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Expect this chipset in more flagships including the Samsung Galaxy S22
With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm is switching to a new naming scheme. The chipset itself gets eight cores based on a 4nm process. Compared to the Snapdragon 888, the CPU should be about 20% faster and the GPU as much as 30% while the power consumption is significantly lower.
Announcement Xiaomi 12 series
Besides the Xiaomi 12, the Xiaomi 12 Pro and 12X are also expected. That entire series could possibly be announced soon, possibly this month. According to the same Digital Chat Station as early as December 28.
