The Huawei P Smart+ 2019 is a small upgrade of the plusless P Smart 2019 but with three cameras on the back. This Triple AI camera offers more possibilities. Which exactly and what else you can get out of a Huawei P Smart+ 2019 is something we are going to explain here.
Huawei has made it a sport to release as many phones as possible. That causes sometimes confusing names and the P Smart+ 2019 is an excellent example of that. Apart from that, on paper it looks like a pretty nice phone. One with a large 6.21 inch screen with a small notch for the selfie camera. At Huawei they call this a Dewdrop Display and because of this it sits at the top close to the edge. Below the screen there is still a noteworthy edge but still small enough not to be able to print a logo. The unibody housing also has a high quality finish because of the NCVM+ process that guarantees an even layer of paint.
On the back of the Huawei P Smart+ 2019 we find three cameras whose highest resolution is 24 megapixels. You can use these for every-day photos. Landscapes can be captured with the 16 megapixel camera with wide-angle lens. The third camera is 2 megapixels which is enough to recognise depth. This allows the smart P background blur so the focus is on the subject. Especially in portraits, this produces nice results. At the front is an 8 megapixel camera which is enough for sharp self shots. The selfiecam is equipped with artificial intelligence that chooses the best settings and makes adjustments.
The Huawei P Smart+ 2019 runs Huawei's own Kirin 710 processor. This is a reasonable chipset that provides the necessary processing power. Android runs smoothly and without any hiccups. Huawei has used Android version 9.0 with on top of that EMUI 9.0. This adds just a bit more features than standard Android. The battery capacity is 3400 mAh, which can be a bit tight considering the size of the screen. Sitting in your mobile for a whole day can be tricky. Charging is done via the outdated microUSB, here we would have liked to have seen the slightly more convenient USB C of which you can plug in the cable on both sides. It's also important to note that you can't expand the memory. So you're stuck with 64 GB which it comes with.
