The realme C35 is a simple, affordable phone with a 50MP camera and massive battery. The screen is also quite large, so this looks like a phone with a decent price/quality ratio. But is that really the case, or is it better to avoid it altogether? We found out for you.
The realme C35 is an excellent example of how far we've come. In the past, you almost had to take out a second mortgage for a smartphone, but nowadays, you can get a full-fledged model for just over 100 euros. And one with a 50MP Triple Camera and a 6.6-inch screen. Not to mention a large 5000mAh for over a day of use and with 18W fast charging. Features that until a few years ago were destined for expensive flagships.
Those who look further do see where Realme has economised. For example, the screen features a somewhat old-fashioned-looking notch. That is a drop-shaped notch at the top centre of the screen, intended for the selfie camera. This camera sensor measures a decent 8MP in resolution and comes from Sony. Costs have also been saved on another point, and that is the processor. It does not come from a well-known brand such as Qualcomm or MediaTek but the relatively unknown Unisoc, formerly known as Spreadtrum. It is a Chinese chipset manufacturer and, after the demise of Huawei (HiSilicon), the 3rd largest chip manufacturer in the world. The Unisoc Tiger T616 was chosen, a 12 nm-based chipset consisting of 8 cores at up to 2 GHz. It is a simple chipset for easy use and, not unimportantly, inexpensive to buy.
On the back of the Realme C35, we find a 50MP primary camera with a decent f/1.8 lens, great for every-day photos and videos of up to Full HD. Also on the back is a 2MP camera with macro lens and a 2MP black and white camera for portrait shots. The latter two do not add much, so we mainly look at the primary camera. However, it performs well, especially considering the asking price. Realme also places a large 5000mAh battery, more than enough for a day of intensive use. Even fast charging is available, altho it is limited to 18 watts. To do this, plug the C35 wired to the charger because wireless charging is missing. Just like 5G support, by the way.
