As environmentally friendly as possible

But first, we start with that remarkable papery back. Like the GT 2 Pro, realme has equipped this device with it. It's not real paper, it's an eco-friendly organic polymer. That is, it is biodegradable, feels like paper but doesn't stain like paper. The advantages, not the disadvantages. You'll find the GT2 in a minimalist retail box with only 0.3% plastic. This means that the GT 2 has been awarded the TCO 9.0 certificate, a sustainability certificate that was also awarded to the Fairphone 4. If you don't care about paper or saving the environment, you can always go for the Steel Black version. That back is made of the more traditional metal.

Fast, bright and colourful screen

A phone that is progressive should also have progressive features. Up front we therefore find a 120Hz fast, 1300 nits bright, 100% DCI-P3 colourful display. Realme applies an AMOLED panel which makes the contrast high: a whopping 5,000,000:1. Protection comes in the form of Gorilla Glass 5 which then again is crazy enough several generations ago. Nevertheless, realme does offer one of the best screens you can find in a phone today. Behind it is a 5000mAh battery with lightning fast 65W SuperDart fast charging. This ensures a full battery in just over half an hour

Three camera's, but only one true star

On the back of the Realme GT2, we find a 50MP main camera with Sony IMX766 sensor and f/1.8 lens for every-day photos. Realme promises well-lit photos even in low light. Partly thanks to built-in image stabilisation, the large sensor and advanced software algorithms. Ideal for street photography where you quickly need to take a snapshot. Below that is an 8MP camera with 119° ultra wide-angle lens and in between we find the 2MP macro camera for close-ups from 4 centimetres. Funnily enough, this is the same camera offering as the more expensive GT2 Pro but with a slightly lower camera resolution. Optical zooming is thus still missing.
