5K renders of Google Pixel Fold 2 show new cameras

Usually, we see renders of an unannounced device first and then actual pictures. With the Google Pixel Fold 2, it's the other way around. Pictures of that had already appeared, but that doesn't mean we don't like these high-resolution renders. After all, they give an idea of the overall picture.

The previously released photo of the Pixel Fold 2 already revealed that Google's new foldable features an all-new camera module. One that does not take up the entire width of the device. In total, the camera island contains three cameras, including some sensors.

After the photos appeared, we suspected that Google would adjust the aspect ratio. This source confirms our suspicion. The outer screen will be 6.4 inches in size, up from 5.8 inches on the OG Pixel Fold. Inside, the size goes up from 7.6 to 7.9 inches. The device becomes less wide but still compact.

Even thinner

The Pixel Fold 2 will also be very thin for a foldable. When folded, the device measures just 10.5 millimetres. With this, Google managed to shave 1.6 millimetres off the first Fold, a device that was also very thin for its time.

Google also seems to be moving away from the large screen bezels above and below the inside screen. In these renders, those have all but disappeared. It was rumoured that Google would put the selfie camera in the corner by taking a bite out of the screen. In this render, the selfie camera appears inside or below the screen; which of the two will have to be seen when it is official.
