Xiaomi 14 first to replace MIUI with HyperOS

Xiaomi fans will see their beloved MIUI swapped for a new mobile platform starting in 2024. From then on, Xiaomi will gradually transition to HyperOS. However, not every Xiaomi device will receive this new mobile operating system.

At the end of 2021, Xiaomi announced stopping using the Mi name. We haven't seen that name on their phones since. The exception was MIUI. That's the name of Xiaomi's user interface. The Android-based platform will soon go by the name HyperOS.

Xiaomi HyperOS

The first device to come with HyperOS out of the box is the Xiaomi 14. That device is due in 2023. Existing Xiaomi phones may have to wait until 2024. That's when Xiaomi hopes to complete its transition to HyperOS.

Android-based

Like MIUI, HyperOS will be based on Android, making it possible to run Android apps. We have no clue what HyperOS looks like; screenshots have yet to surface. In addition to phones, HyperOS is scheduled to run on other product categories as well.
