It's becoming increasingly clear what AI features the future Galaxy S24 series will be equipped with. In addition to some features we have already seen elsewhere, some exclusive video features will also be added. One of these is being able to erase unwanted objects from video. Something that is already commonplace in photos by now.
You may be familiar with photobombing, also known as intentionally standing in someone's photo. It's not that hard to fix afterward these days. For this, Google previously released Image Eraser, which allows you to erase unwanted objects or people from a photo. Something similar for video does not exist yet, but the S24 may change that.
Because, according to a post by @BennettBuhner, the upcoming S24 series, consisting of the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra, will get a feature that makes this possible. According to the explanation, it will be possible to select an object after which, thanks to AI, it will be removed from the entire shot.
One UI 6.1
The feature will be part of One UI version 6.1, the user interface used by Samsung on top of Android. This version will revolve around AI, a.k .a. artificial intelligence. Another video feature that uses AI is used to improve video quality. For example, settings like exposure, graininess, and stability are improved. It is still unknown whether this will happen on the device itself or whether videos will be sent to the cloud first.
According to the post by @BennettBuhner, we further read that we can enlarge photos afterward by letting AI fill in the rest. What remarkable results this produces will be revealed during the presentation. AI can also recognise speech and summarise phone calls afterward. It will also be able to give the main points of a large text.
Unpacked 2024
Everything will become clear once Samsung holds its famous Unpacked event. For that to happen, it has to announce it first. So far, Samsung has not done so. Samsung is expected to hold this event on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, but anything is possible until we receive an invitation.
