Motorola Moto E22

The Motorola Moto E22 is an affordable smartphone with smooth screen playback and Dolby sound. This theoretically makes it the ideal companion on the go. We're going to find out whether that is the case.

A device with pros and cons

The Moto E22 is one of the most inexpensive smartphones you can get. This is something to keep in mind because the device is tremendously comprehensive, but it is not because of this. This is not the best mobile for those who are very demanding. And that has everything to do with the processor choice. Parent company Lenovo opted for a MediaTek Helio G37. While that is an eight-core chipset, it is not extremely powerful. For example, it is not suitable for gaming. For every-day tasks, however, it is. A model with 3 GB of RAM (32 GB of storage) and one with 4 GB of RAM (64 GB of storage) is available. The more RAM, the easier it can perform tasks. But keep in mind that the model with 4/64GB of memory does not have NFC, and the model with 3/32GB does.

90Hz: faster than usual

The neat about the E22 is its 6.5-inch display. Not because that's such a perfect size but because this screen displays 90 frames per second. That's faster than average, making animations and transitions appear smoother. Unfortunately, the resolution is disappointing; it remains stuck at HD+, which means 720 by 1600 pixels. Photos and videos look fine, but text can be a bit grainy. At the top of this screen, we find a drop-shaped notch for the 5MP selfie camera. Here again, you notice the simplicity of the E22. It is just sharp enough to pass muster.

Good with audio

On the back of the Moto E22, we find a dual camera. However, it is one because the second sensor purely recognises depth. The primary camera has a 16MP large sensor and shoots video up to Full HD (1080p). You can still choose portrait, panorama, nite mode, and some filters in the menu. Neatly, the E22 features dual speakers for full stereo sound. The device even supports spatial Dolby Atmos sound so you can figuratively immerse yourself in sound. It's just too bad there is no fast charging. You charge the 4020mAh battery with up to 10W.
