Motorola Moto G71 5G product description

The Motorola Moto G71 is a good-priced 5G phone with a colourful OLED display, a triple-camera system, and a large battery for extended use. But there's more. What exactly and whether you should consider buying one is something we will explain here.

Crisp OLED screen

Here at the editors we are fans of them; OLED screens. They have a very colourful display and the contrast is unparallelled. So black really is black. So we are pleasantly surprised to read that the G71 5G has such a screen. The panel measures 6.4 inches which is quite spacious, the Full HD+ resolution ensures sharp images and the DCI-P3 support ensures better colour reproduction. All in all, a screen to get thru a ring. And that's what Motorola has placed at the top. The selfie camera is behind a small hole in the screen. Modern and not obtrusive. The refresh rate is up to 60 Hz so you do not have those extremely smooth transitions as with some other smartphone screens.

Three cameras of which two are really useable

On the back of the Moto G71 5G we find a triple camera system consisting of a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 wide-angle lens. Merging 4 pixels into 1 creates better exposed photos in the dark. There is also an 8MP for even wider shots thanks to its 118° ultra-wide-angle lens. Finally, there is a 2MP macro camera for extreme close-ups. However, the low resolution does not really make it useful for frequent use so it is more of a gimmick. You shoot video in up to FHD and at up to 60 fps. 4K is therefore not an option. On the front there is a 16MP shooter for selfies and is equipped with numerous additional functions and modes such as group selfies, smile timer, spot colour and a portrait mode. Enough to let you live it up.

Most important Motorola Moto G71 5G specifications

  • 6.4-inch Max Vision display with sharp FHD+ resolution
  • 50+8+2MP camera with 118° ultra-wide angle and macro camera
  • 16MP selfie camera with plenty of selfie features including portrait mode
  • Large 5000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor with 6GB of RAM and 5G support
  • 128GB of storage, not expandable
  • Dual SIM support (2x nano SIM)
  • 5G mobile internet
  • Plastic casing with water-repellant coating

Capable processor, lots of storage

Inside the Moto G71 we find a large 5000 mAh battery altho you wouldn't say so because of its 8.5mm thin body. The battery is quick to charge thanks to the included 33W TurboPower charger. The required processing power is provided by a Snapdragon 695 processor from Qualcomm. This is equipped with 6GB which is actually pretty neat. Multiple apps can stay in memory because of this so switching between them is fast. The processor itself is not amongst the fastest but it is capable. Neat finally is the amount of storage memory. With 128GB, this can be called generous and that is a good thing because it is not expandable.

Pro and cons Moto G71 5G

  • Affordable 5G phone
  • Colourful OLED screen
  • Good 50MP camera
  • Large battery + 33W charging
  • 60Hz screen does not deliver extra smooth playback
