Apple iPhone 16 may get more RAM and faster internet

The year has barely begun, and we are already looking forward to the latest Apple iPhone. For the iPhone 16, there are rumours of more memory and faster internet. An improvement you won't hear us complain about anytime soon.

If you compare the specifications of an Apple iPhone to any Android smartphone, something quickly stands out. Namely, the small battery and the small amount of RAM. However, this is not surprising. Apple makes both the hardware and the software; thus, it can do fine without a lot of both.

More RAM

And yet the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus appear to be getting some more RAM, according to rumours from analyst Jeff Pu. The Pro models have enough RAM, according to Apple. Those models will stay at whatever they have now. The overall picture would look like this:

The increase in RAM for the iPhone 16 and 16+ might be caused by the use of the A17 Pro chip. However, the chip may be called differently to avoid confusion with the Pro chip in the iPhone Pro. Since the RAM is incorporated into the chip, that number is fixed.

Wi-Fi 6E

Another change for the iPhone 16 and Plus is faster Internet. Apple is set to adopt Wi-Fi 6E, which can use the 6 GHz band for wireless Internet in addition to 2.4 and 5 GHz. Those with a suitable router at home can achieve faster download speeds.

Wi-Fi 6E was already available for the iPhone 15 Pro (Max)

Wi-Fi 6E was already present on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, but now it's coming to the entry-level iPhone as well. Our guess for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max is that Apple is switching to the recently announced Wi-Fi 7.
